A few soaked corn kernels, Petri dishes, opaque cartons, paper towels, scissors, Scotch tape, clay or plasticine.

Research question: where does the root of a plant grow?
研究问题:植物的根向哪里生长?
Materials: Several soaked corn kernels, paper towel, culture dish and clay.
实验材料:几粒浸泡过的玉米粒、纸巾、培养皿、黏土。
The experimental steps were as follows:
实验步骤:
1. Put the corn kernels in the Petri dish with the tip of the corn kernels toward the center of the Petri dish.
1.把玉米粒放到培养皿里,使玉米粒的尖朝向培养皿中心。
2. Fix corn kernels. Wet the tissue and cover the corn kernels. Cover the Petri dish and seal the mouth.
2.固定玉米粒。将纸巾浸湿,盖到玉米粒上。盖上培养皿盖,封好口。
3. Set the dish up and fix it with clay.
3.把培养皿立起来,并用黏土固定好。
4. Observe the growth direction of corn root every day and make records.
4.每天观察玉米粒根的生长方向,做好记录。
This experiment needs a long time to observe and study, but we should stick to it.
这个实验需要较长的时间来观察和研究,可要坚持住啊。

   Sunflower's "head" will rotate with the change of the sun's position. This growth bending phenomenon caused by light stimulation is called phototropism.   
  向日葵的“头”会随着太阳位置的变化而转动,这种受光刺激而引起的生长弯曲现象叫向光性。   
The phenomenon of plant roots growing underground is called geotropism.
植物的根向地下生长的现象称为向地性。
